    Explore the state of the state of the art in cyber-resilient engineering of space systems while learning about assuring the US Air Force’s unique and diverse missions as they operate across an increasingly cyber-contested lifecycle. Lastly, learn how future space systems will be engineered to survive and thrive in a cyber-contested domain.

    In this private session, organized by the Air Force Research Lab, we bring together a team of industry leading experts from the Air Force Institute of Technology, the Space Defense Task Force, the Air Force Research Lab, as well as Honeywell to talk about the major cybersecurity issues facing the space and satellite sector.

    Topics include: the art in cyber-resilient engineering of space systems; assurance of the US Air Force’s unique and diverse missions; future space systems and how they will be engineered to survive and thrive in a cyber-contested domain.

    IMPORTANT: This session has a Classification of ‘UNCLASSIFIED, DISTRIBUTION D’

    U.S. citizens only, who are also either Department of Defense employees or are contractor employees whose organization has an active contract with the Department of Defense.     The FCC Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC) WG4: What We Can Learn

    The CSRIC IV Working Group 4 (WG4) was given the task of developing voluntary mechanisms that give the FCC and the public assurances that communication providers are taking the necessary measures to manage cybersecurity risks across the enterprise. The WG produced a definitive report that analyzed and gave recommendations for the top five mission critical segments of our communications infrastructure including satellite, broadcast, cable, wireless and wireline segments.     Connected Transportation & Security: Keeping Connected Vehicles Safe

    In 2015, there were around 5,000 aircraft connected. By 2025, that number could triple as most of the world’s major airlines connect their fleets. Ant this is just one vertical. The ‘Connected’ Car will start to become part of our reality very soon as it enters the mainstream. Likewise, cruise ship companies are like mini-cities with thousands of people connected. However, cyber-security will be a huge issue for all these forms of ‘connected’.     Military SATCOM and Cybersecurity: The New Paradigm

    The U.S. government is the world’s largest buyers of satellite capacity. It has its own dedicated satellites, as well buying a great deal of commercial satellite capacity. One of its concerns when buying capacity off commercial satellites, is the security involved? However, with demands for bandwidth going up, we look at the cybersecurity issues here, as the U.S. DoD and government looks to invest in more satellite capacity. With more HTS going up, and the landscape becoming more complex, we examine how this new paradigm and whether the industry is well-equipped to deal with these new threats.
